School R put a lot of effort into their open evening. There were Science experiments with first class equipment, and a Drama production with expensive props. Exercise books in the English department were particularly impressive, and the Head teacher did a talk with state of the art power point technology. However, although it was ‘directed time’, only half the staff were committed enough to turn up. The English books on display were five years old, and were brought out every year, and the props were borrowed from the Head of Drama’s am-dram society. Two Science rooms had been kept locked, because of graffiti scrawled in them on the day of the open evening. Only five percent of the students were actually represented either through display or attendance.
